A Summer Day Trip to Newport, Rhode Island

A few weeks ago, I had the chance to take a day trip to Newport, Rhode Island and fell in love with the beauty and charm of this historic place! My mom spent a summer in college living in Newport, and I have heard about its beauty and history my whole life. This was my first time to see and explore it myself, and it certainly exceeded all expectations!

LCB STYLE NEWPORT RHODE ISLAND CASTLE HILL INN

This pink stripe matching set is from BURU (wearing an XS in top and S in the bottoms)- shop the top here and shorts here.

Newport is a place rich in history and filled with so much beauty. The views from every turn are breathtaking! I only wish we had longer to stay and explore!

While I only spent one day in Newport (I hope to be back again soon!), I still wanted to put together a post of favorites in case any of you are looking to visit and need some suggestions for places to eat, shop, and explore!

SHOP

  1. Tyler Boe: clothing store located on Bannister’s Wharf with beautiful dresses, sweaters, and all you need for a New England wardrobe.

  2. Kiel James Patrick: anyone that was on IG in the early 2010s knows KJP and his iconic New England style. It was so much fun to finally see their brand & designs in person after following for so many years!

  3. Lycette: a must for any creatives and needlepoint lovers!

  4. Bowen’s Wharf and Bannister’s Wharf: there are a number of stores located on these wharfs and so fun to pop in and out of with a view of the water!

EAT

  1. Del’s Lemonade: a must! Trust me!

  2. The Lawn at Castle Hill Inn: another must! and probably my favorite part of our day in Newport! Delicious food with the best view!

EXPLORE

  1. International Tennis Hall of Fame: a pretty special place filled with so much history- a must for any tennis lovers!

  2. Newport Polo: Newport does polo big. I was blown away by the number of people that turnout for their weekly matches. A super fun way to spend a summer afternoon with friends and family.

  3. Cliff Walk: there is a public path that runs along the oceanfront by the historic Newport mansions, and this is definitely on my list for when we come back.

  4. Newport Mansions: pretty amazing to get a glimpse at the history and beauty of these stunning estates. I want to come back and explore more!

STAY

I can’t speak from personal experience staying in Newport this trip, since we were just in town for the day. However, after eating lunch at Castle Hill Inn, I was totally sold and dying to visit again for a night (or maybe a few)! Castle Hill Inn has rooms and beach front cottages available- the entire property is the definition of New England charm. I feel confident in recommending it to anyone looking for a place to stay in Newport!
