A Weekend in Point Clear, AL: The Grand Hotel & Fall Polo

A couple weekends ago, I headed south to Point Clear, Alabama for a couple days of soaking up some sunshine and watching my brother play polo. Point Clear and The Grand Hotel have held a special spot in my heart for as long as I can remember, and I always love getting to spend time with my family there in the fall!

One of the biggest highlights of my weekend was getting to see The Grand Hotel’s transformation and all of its completed renovations. I was blown away by every little detail on the property and the exciting new updates to this historic resort. I have had the chance to visit the resort a handful of times throughout the past year of renovations, and each time I was more and more impressed with the upgrades and changes (see my hotel review from last fall here). To see the renovation process come full circle from start to finish has been really exciting, and the completely renovated resort is more gorgeous than ever! I am really looking forward to visiting again soon and hopefully staying a bit longer.

SATURDAY

Saturday was a day full of watching polo, but we made time to stop by one of our favorite lunch spots, Panini Pete’s in Fairhope, before the games. The weather was a little on the warmer side but sunny as could be, so I had absolutely no complaints! :)

w/ my favorite player, best friend, and big brother after Saturday’s games!

I think I introduced y’all to Sain in this post from Palm Beach (see here)- he is like family to us and one of my favorite people on this planet. To know him is to love him!

CHECKING INTO THE GRAND HOTEL

We checked into The Grand Hotel Saturday afternoon just in time to catch the beautiful sunset over Mobile Bay. We stayed in a bay view room in the Spa Building, and let me tell you- it did not disappoint. The room was extra big, the beds were super comfy, and waking up to the view of the marina/bay was such a treat.

SATURDAY NIGHT

On Saturday night some of the players, families, and friends got together for an Argentine Asado (aka post-polo cookout/ famous Argentine tradition). Dinner eventually turned into dinner and dancing… and two weeks later I’m still smiling from it all.

SUNDAY

On Sunday we woke up at The Grand Hotel to the brightest, bluest skies and the most gorgeous day! I hopped out of bed fairly early and went for a walk down the boardwalk, spent some time reading, and picked up some yummy muffins at the hotel’s new β€œLocal Market” before heading back to the room to get ready for another day of watching polo.

I only wish we had had a bit more time to spend at the hotel this trip- I definitely would have taken advantage of the newly renovated spa and the pretty poolside cabanas!

Stopped by Italian Downtown (another favorite lunch spot in Fairhope) before heading to the polo fields for Sunday’s games.
