Monday Q&A No. 16

Happy Monday! Hope you are all doing well and had a safe and peaceful weekend. With so much happening in our world at the moment, I have been soaking up every bit of this priceless time with family and seeking out the light and beauty in each day.

“The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” -John 1:5.

Last week I picked up a paintbrush for the first time in a while and had a lot of fun getting back into watercolor painting and drawing lots of horses, dresses, and flowers. Over the past several years I have taken more polo and fashion photos than I can count, and it was really fun to turn some of these pictures into paintings and drawings. You can see a little peek over on my @LCB_ART instagram account.

Also! This week I had a lot of fun styling some new outfits for summer on the LikeToKnow. It app. I loved playing around with new products and mixing and matching dresses, swimsuits, accessories, and more to create different outfits. It was kind of like playing virtual dress up, and I loved how all the different outfits came together. Head here to see the outfits I put together and shop some of my latest fashion finds.

Now let’s jump into today’s Q&A! If you have any questions you’d like me to answer, send them over via DM (@lcbstyle), email (caroline@lcbstyle.com), or comment below!

Q&A

1. What are your favorite podcasts to listen to? The past few weeks I have been listening to LOTS of podcasts. There are so many great ones out there! These are my favorites at the moment:

  1. Passion City Church- Since attending the Passion Conference in high school, Louie Giglio of Passion City Church has been one of my favorite pastors, speakers, and authors. I always find his sermons to be really powerful and moving- full of scripture and wisdom. New sermons from Passion City Church (based in Atlanta and DC) are uploaded to this podcast each week.

2. The Style Files: Conversations with Creatives by Paloma Contreras- I started following Paloma’s design blog La Dolce Vita years ago, and I have been really loving her new podcast that she launched during quarantine. Paloma has interviewed some of the most talented designers and creatives like Mark Sikes, Bunny Williams, Jen Sohr, and Celerie Kemble, and I always find each of their conversations inspiring, educational, and uplifting.

3. Dream Big Podcast by Bob Goff: Another favorite speaker and author of mine is Bob Goff, and this podcast is all about how to chase big ambitions and impact the world for good. Bob has interviewed some really incredible thinkers and dreamers, and I feel like there are always so many takeaways from each episode.

2. Do you have any favorite Spotify playlists? Yes! I have to have music playing, always and always. I have had this worship playlist on repeat lately. I also just discovered this happy new playlist from Tory Burch… and anyone who knows me knows my crazy love for Coldplay, so this is a playlist I always come back to!

3. What denim shorts do you love? Any brands you recommend? My all time favorite denim shorts are the “High Waist Button Front Denim Shorts” from Madewell. They are a great length, have a little bit of stretch, fit true to size, and are under $100. I also love Levi’s denim shorts, but their sizing can be a bit tricky depending on the different fits/styles. I linked a few favorite finds below.

4. Have you found any cute non-medical face masks? Yes! I ordered this “Buy 5, Give 5" mask set from Rent the Runway and have found them to be really comfortable. I also love these from Tuckernuck and these from Brooke Wright. If you are in Birmingham, Mary Rives has been creating and sewing some of the most beautiful face masks while she is in town from NYC. She has done the best job making these new everyday accessories more stylish! DM Mary Rives here to order!

5. What are your favorite sunglasses you own? Any favorite brands? The only sunglasses I have been wearing for the past couple months are these from The Avenue! I also LOVE the Leonard II style from Illesteva, the St. Louis style from Krewe, these from Celine… and I don’t think you can ever go wrong with a pair of classic Ray Ban aviators. For under $100 styles, Le Specs and Quay are two of the best brands. For designer, I think Prada, Tom Ford, and Celine make the most beautiful styles.
