Fashion Essential: Flutter Sleeve Top by Field Trip Brand

A few weeks ago I introduced Field Trip Brand, a brand that is near and dear to me, over on Instagram! You may have seen me go on and on about my love for Field Trip Brand and their beautiful (and functional) fashion designs, and today I am super thrilled to continue the conversation and share even more about this pretty top that I truly cannot get enough of.

Field Trip Brand was founded by the lovely Dominique Paye, a friend of mine from The Southern C Summit! I was honored to be in Dominique’s mentor group at TSC Summit when she was first sharing the vision behind her brand before it launched in early 2020. I was so inspired to hear of her mission to help women get dressed quickly without sacrificing style, function, or quality.

All About the Top

Fast forward one year, and I was so excited to get my hands on one of the beautiful Field Trip Brand styles that I had been eyeing- the “Reversible Flutter Sleeve” in the crispest of pretty white fabrics. I had high expectations for these beautiful tops, because I knew just how much thought and work went into creating them! And let me tell you, it did not disappoint one bit. The Field Trip Brand “Reversible Flutter Sleeve” is every bit as lovely, chic, and versatile as I could have imagined.

From the first touch, I was so impressed by the quality and beauty of the white fabric. Dominique put a whole lot of thought into every inch of these tops- especially the fabric. Each top is made of natural, breathable, soft fabric that is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified. This means it is super lightweight, easy to wash, quick to dry, and perfect for travel! While the white may be my favorite, the top also comes in four more colors here, including a pretty light blue!

Another major design element to note is the fit of the top! The sleeve length is just right and flattering on all! The arm opening was made to provide air flow and not cause any discomfort/ tightness around the armpits. The top has a vent at the sides on the bottom hemline to make for easy tucking. I really love that the back is just a tad longer than the front for a flattering look and for easy movement!

One of the most unique features of this top (which you may have picked up on in the name of it ;) is that it is reversible! Yes, totally completely 100% reversible. This means you can make twice as many outfits out of one essential top. This is not only amazing for everyday when you are looking to change up the style of your daily outfits, but it is especially amazing for travel when you need to make as many outfits as possible out of the fewest number of items. I love both sides equally- the crewneck side is simple and perfect for everyday or layering with pretty necklaces and the v-neck side is perfect for pairing with basic bottoms/ letting the top really shine!

Investing in Fashion Essentials

Throughout each year that passes, I am reminded again and again of the importance of investing in high quality fashion essentials. By this, I mean spending a bit more on high quality basics that I know will stand the test of time. I am definitely someone that regrets purchasing fast fashion items that I only wear once or twice due to their trendy nature or poor quality fabric/ construction. I cling to the pieces that serve me well and stand the test of time. One of my goals over the coming year is to continue to invest in high quality basic pieces that serve as the foundation of my wardrobe.

The “Reversible Flutter Sleeve” has definitely confirmed that a high quality white top is a foundational piece in my wardrobe, because I have been wearing this top 2-3 times a week for nearly two months. I am pretty sure I could wear a white top (preferably this one!), comfy blue jeans, and statement earrings everyday for the rest of forever.

At $185, this top is an investment for a fashion essential but one that absolutely pays off over time, especially when you think about the cost per wear. I know I can be quick to spend $20-$50 on a poor quality white top that ends up lasting only a few months.
