Happy September 1st! Today I am SO excited to be a part of Old Navy and People Magazine's #50styles50states campaign and representing Alabama! Read to the bottom of the post to see how to join in on the fun and share your own unique state style! Without further adieu- here are three looks featuring my state style!
1. denim on denim
2. pretty pink pants
3. bold pop of red
With the large presence of media today and the way images can be shared instantaneously across the globe, it is easy for our day to day styles to be influenced by a large number of things (magazines, runways, celebrities, etc). But when it comes down to it, there is one major thing that will always influence my fashion and style choices: home. For me, home is Alabama. As time passes and my personal style evolves, there is one element of my style that will always stay true to my home state and southern roots.
My home state of Alabama has inspired and influenced my style in many ways, but the biggest way it has impact my fashion choices is through its many landscapes. Alabama is home to a wide variety of beautiful landscapes, and each has played a role in shaping my wardrobe. From the beach to the country to the city, these beautiful backdrops to life in Alabama have all influenced my style and given it different flairs. The more refined, classic characteristics of my style have definitely come from the city, while the more whimsical, colorful, and trendy elements have definitely been influenced by my time spent at the beach. And the more casual, boho traits of my style have clearly come from spending many weekends in the country.
The first look is my personal take on the denim on denim trend. Old Navy has one of the best selections of denim tops, bottoms, and dresses, and I am a huge fan of their “Rockstar” denim style! This is one of the easiest looks to put together, yet I feel some people are hesitant to try this trend. The key to making it work is to pair slightly different shades of denim/ chambray to give the look more excitement! A chambray top and a good pair of skinny jeans (side note: I have actually worn these jeans every other day since I got them- the fit is perfect!) are two must haves in anyone’s wardrobe!
Next, look number two is a combination of two things I love: field jackets and blush pink jeans. I have been searching high and low for a great pair of cute pink jeans, and I couldn’t believe it when I found the absolute perfect pair at Old Navy. Finding the right shade of blush pink is a lot harder than you think, but the color of these is just right and I love the distressed detailing. Also, a field jacket is another must have I would recommend for fall. It is the perfect layering piece to nearly every fall look.
Lastly, my third outfit is all about being bold. Some easy ways to add an element of boldness to your outfit is through color and pattern. I decided to incorporate both into this look! To make this work, I started out with a super simple chambray shift dress (such a key versatile item from Old Navy!), and then layered on the black and white geometric patterned jacket. I love that this jacket adds so much texture and detail to the overall feel of the look! Because all the colors were fairly neutral, I completed the outfit with these bold red lace up flats (under $30!)!
